Second is a great place for kids!  There always someplace for your kids to plug in and play…

Musicals and Pageants

Kids who like to sing and perform can participate in musicals that are occasionally performed during worship like “Moses and the Freedom Fighters” or for our annual Christmas pageant.

Fun Fellowship Activities

There are fun social activities for kids and families scheduled throughout the year including Rally Day picnic and games, visits to a corn maze, bowling, movie nights at the church, Easter Egg Hunt, advent wreath-making, family cookouts, etc.

Vacation Bible School

“VBS” takes place in late July each year, and is a week-long day “camp” for children ranging from 4 years to about 5th grade.  Second partners with four other churches on Charles Street to bring this exciting and Christ-filled camp to our community. Each year features a different theme, which is supported through songs, games, bible lessons, arts and crafts and numerous other activities throughout the week. Click here for more information on VBS.

Mission Projects

Kids are regularly included in hands-on mission projects that are fun and instill in our children Jesus’ call to love our neighbor. Activities have included making hygiene kits for disaster relief, comfort shawls for hospitalized children, collecting canned goods, planting and harvesting vegetables for local food kitchens, making peanut butter sandwiches for Our Daily Bread, and playing bingo with senior citizens.

Children’s Choir

Children may participate in Second’s Children’s Choir, which performs several times during the year.

Rally Day

Rally Day in early September ushers in the Sunday School year. We celebrate with a picnic, games, a moon bounce, and petting zoo.

Annual Easter Egg Hunt

The Easter Egg Hunt, usually held on the Saturday before Palm Sunday, is an old tradition at Second. We make Easter-related crafts, hunt hundreds of eggs on the church grounds (or inside if it is raining), and enjoy refreshments.

Boy Scouts

Second Presbyterian sponsors Troop 5 of the Baltimore area boy scouts. The scouts meet in Smith Hall on Sundays at 4 p.m.  For more information about the scouts, contact the troop at troop_5@comcast.net.
