Ziger/Snead 25th Anniversary Brings Giant Balloon To Second's Portico!
Greeting members and passers-by alike next Sunday, September 12, will be a very large, saffron yellow balloon tethered to the front portico of the sanctuary! This piece of artwork – a performance piece, in effect, by local artist Lee Freeman – turns out to be a bit of crowning glory for Rally Day. However, it is really part of a 25th Anniversary celebration of Ziger/Snead Architects*.
To celebrate their 25 years in the Baltimore area, Ziger/Snead will fly this balloon (yellow is their signature color) more than 25 of their most significant projects, a day or two at a time. Second Presbyterian is delighted to be one of those chosen for the traveling yellow balloon – marking the spot. The celebration will begin with a retrospective show of their work at the AIA headquarters on September 9, where the balloon will soar for the first time. A map will be distributed, highlighting all selected projects, and the event will be covered by The Sun.
Please join us in congratulating Z/S on this special anniversary, and for their hundreds of fine contributions to architecture in the area.
