Fred Svec, Project Manager
Jeff Brown, Project Superintendent (Pictured below)
If you are around the church on a weekday, you may catch sight of Fred Svec or Jeff Brown. They are the Project Manager and Project Superintendent, respectively, from Lewis Contractors who are in charge of our church renovations. Both men have long experience in the industry and, in particular, in working for Lewis Contractors – over 35 years in Fred’s case, and over 20 years for Jeff.
But it’s not just that they’ve been doing this a long time – they’ve also been doing it exceedingly well. Both men have worked on many historic restoration and renovation projects, and between them they have overseen nearly a dozen projects that have won annual Excellence in Construction Awards.
Beyond their work lives, both men are “interesting guys,” according to our Owner’s Representative, Tom McCracken, who worked with them while Tom was still at Henry H. Lewis (the predecessor firm to Lewis Contractors).
Jeff lives in a very old house that was once a log cabin on the Manchester Pike in Carroll County. He has two teenage sons, numerous cows, and – according to Tom – plenty of tall tales. Jeff is a master craftsmen when he gets a chance to pick up his tools. Fred lives in Middle River in a house on Back River. He spends his spare time fishing, sailing, and kayaking. He has two daughters and a grandchild.
The last time Fred, Jeff, and Tom all worked together was on the historic restoration of Lovely Lane United Methodist Church – a project which won an Excellence in Construction Award. We are blessed and thankful to be in such good hands.
